Why Strong Window Warranties Are Important

While there are several factors to be considered when buying replacement windows, warranty is a factor that shouldn’t be overlooked. Not all replacement window warranties are the same, and choosing the right one can save you from unplanned repair or replacement expenses. The paperwork may be worded differently, but the important elements should be recognizable.

What Strong Replacement Window Warranties Should Have

Replacement window warranties – and most warranty coverage in the remodeling and building industries, for that matter – should always have material and workmanship coverage. Material warranty is alternatively referred to as factory or manufacturer’s warranty, and covers problems that may be caused by material or manufacturing defects. In terms of replacement windows, material warranty could apply to the entire replacement window assembly, or to the frames, glass and hardware individually.

Workmanship warranty, on the other hand, covers problems that may arise from improper installation processes. Not all window contractors and manufacturers offer this, yet it’s the most critical part of the warranty coverage as a whole. After all, even the best replacement windows won’t work as expected if they’re not properly installed.
